The GFCI/*Decora® Style opening on this oversized wall plate is a standard-size opening designed to fit a standard GFCI receptacle, Decora-style device, or rocker switch.
The term "jumbo" or "oversized" refers only to the outside dimensions of the wall plate, which are larger than a standard wall plate to provide additional coverage around the electrical box. The actual device opening remains the standard size required for a standard GFCI outlet.
Here are the dimentions (we are providing both, the full wall plate size and opening size):
Wall Plate Size: Oversize (5.5 in. high x 5.50 in. wide)
Opening: (1) duplex block / GFI opening, centered within a 2-gang plate, (2.625 in high x 1.312 in. wide)
The term "jumbo" or "oversized" refers only to the outside dimensions of the wall plate, which are larger than a standard wall plate to provide additional coverage around the electrical box. The actual device opening remains the standard size required for a standard GFCI outlet.
If your electrical box and GFCI receptacle are standard size, this wall plate should fit properly. The larger outer dimensions are specifically helpful when there is drywall damage, paint lines, wallpaper gaps, or other imperfections around the box that a standard-size wall plate may not fully cover.
In your situation, where the electrical box and GFCI outlet are standard but there is damage around the box opening, this oversized wall plate is exactly the type of product commonly used to provide additional coverage and create a cleaner finished appearance.
